Calling All Sista's...

Imagine living in a world where all the men in your life show you love, respect and adoration...everyday!

  • Are you ready to be embraced by black men and to create the partnerships you've always dreamed of?
  • Want to learn how to create long-lasting, satisfying relationships with all the men in your life?
  • Have you felt anger, loss or disappointment because there appears to be so few qualified black men? Are you ready to enter a paradigm where great men exist all around you?
  • If you are a single parent, are you ready to learn effective ways to get your needs met so you're not left doing everything?
  • Tired of being both the woman and man in your life? Are you ready to give up being the best man you know?

We Can Help! Celebrating Black Men, Satisfying Black Women® will help you understand why men do what they do. You will find out what not to take personally - and even make sense of their most annoying behaviors and learn how to deal with them. During the workshop participants will experience:

Hope

  • Opening the pathway to love, optimism, intimacy, fulfillment, harmony, peace and new opportunities for generosity, compassion and satisfaction.

Partnership

  • Welcoming black men back into our lives, family and community in a way that honors what is beautiful about who we are and our culture.

Happiness

  • Learning to embrace your femininity and vulnerability, creating space for men to satisfy you.

Healing

  • Healing the hearts and souls of black women by shedding the anger and disappointment that keeps love out.
  • If you've been hurt by men in the past, injuries will heal as you look back on upsetting situations and begin to see what really happened. You will learn great alternatives for dealing with similar issues in the future. As you learn how to get what you need from men, any residual anger and frustration you may have toward men will dissipate.

It's time for you to get more from men - more of what you want and more of what you need. Register for the workshop today!

"We designed this workshop to take you on a journey of healing and freedom allowing the shackles we have woven around ourselves and our perceptions of black men to dissolve and fall away. These negative points of view bind, restrict and entangle us in karmic interactions, reaching back through centuries of history. We will work to transmute and align all of the discordant negative energies and memories with a healing ceremony that calls upon the souls of our ancestors, lifting them from the core of the earth up to the heavens, allowing them to release. Moving into forgiveness, both emotionally and spiritually, will allow us to celebrate who black men are and invite them back into our lives."

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is the Celebrating Black Men, Satisfying Black Women offered at a lower price?
It is the custom at PAX to offer pilot workshops at a discounted rate to account for the fact that, as a new program, it may not meet our high standards and need revision and redesign -- possibly in the middle of the workshop! When the "bugs" have been worked out, this program will be offered at our regular CMSW price.

Why is PAX offering workshops based on skin color? Isn't this discriminatory in and of itself?
After much debate about the title -- should it be the African American Celebrating Mend, Satisfying Women (CMSW)? The CMSW for women of color? -- the team unanimously chose "black" as the word they most identified with, and the word that would include women of African descent who are not "American." We also took our lead from the International Black Summit, an initiative which had to deal with the title issue years ago. The point was to name an experience of life concisely -- not an easy thing to do. This workshop is for women who identify with an experience of life known as "black." Black women are not limited to participating in this workshop (that would be ridiculous). But women who don't identify with the word "black" should not participate, as it will be dissatisfying to them and counter-purpose for the workshop.

Is PAX saying that the needs of women are defined by skin color and race?
We have not found that to be true. In fact, the opposite seems to be true: women of all ethnicities and nationalities share common needs and desires. Curiously, for years women have wondered if our assertions about men would apply to "their men" due to cultural factors. We've been happy to discover that they do.

In the case of Celebrating Black Men, Satisfying Black Women, we are saying that the relationships between black men and women have been profoundly affected by circumstances historical, economical and prejudicial that men and women of other ethnicities have not had to contend with.

How can you assume that there is a universal approach to the experience of black women?
We cannot. That is why our web page about the course is quite explicit in naming the emotions, concerns and challenges this workshop will attempt to address, heal and provide empowerment with. No doubt, even more will show up in the program. If you do not identify with these concerns, please don't participate.

Why is PAX not offering workshops for other groups of people with unique histories, concerns and challenges?
As stated in Alison's letter (below), we have received requests for such workshops since the beginning of PAX. As the principle designer of programs at PAX, Alison feels she is not qualified to design programs for most of these groups. Hence, these specialized programs are being developed in partnership with senior graduates who bring the necessary experience and perspectives to make the programs relevant and impactful. Besides Celebrating Black Men, Satisfying Black Women, over the next few years, PAX will have a curriculum for small businesses and corporations and, finally, a curriculum in Spanish. As men and women who are part of these communities complete PAX Mastery & Leadership, we gain the knowledge and experience required to create these customized programs.

Is PAX saying that the regular Celebrating Men, Satisfying Women workshop will not work for black women?
Our experience has been that Celebrating Men, Satisfying Women has transformed the lives of women from every ethnicity, nationality and continent and from every age, religion and economic group. AND, our senior graduates and workshop leaders representing the black community have asked for something more and we said, "YES."

Alison Armstrong Discusses the Creation & Necessity of the
Celebrating Black Men, Satisfying Black Women® Workshop

We recently sent out a special announcement about a program that we're very excited about, the Celebrating Black Men, Satisfying Black Women® workshop. I am writing to address some of the responses we have received to our announcement, and, hopefully, to clear up misconceptions people may have about this new pilot program.

The subject of ethnic differences is one that has ignited passion throughout human history, and not surprisingly, we received some very passionate responses to our first workshop customized for a particular ethnicity. Many of you were inspired and passionate in your praise, some of you were offended and passionate in your criticism, and some of you had questions about this new program. Our intention in this email is to respond to all three groups.

For those of you inspired by the new workshop and its possibilities, thank you for letting us know. Your encouragement matters to us. Since the inception of Celebrating Men, Satisfying Women, we have received requests to customize our curriculum to the special needs and challenges of different groups, including educators, Christians, mothers, lesbians, Latinas and women executives. The most persistent requests have come from African American/Black women longing to heal their relationships with black men -- relationships that have been shaped dramatically by historical, economical and prejudicial factors that have affected no other group similarly. Providing something special for this community has been a dream of mine for many years. The upcoming pilot workshops have been made possible now by the concerted and courageous efforts of many of our senior-most workshop leaders, workshop managers, and staff.

For those of you who are offended by our undertaking, our sincere apologies. I encouraged the designers of this special version of CMSW to be brave and "call it like you see it" in their community and in their experience as black women. Our mission is to alter our society's culture by transforming the way women relate to men. We believe that the Celebrating Black Men, Satisfying Black Women workshop is an expression of our mission, and can provide extraordinary healing while addressing the unique history, concerns and challenges of black women in America. We understand that not all will agree with this, but we still consider it worth providing. If the concerns and challenges they've articulated don't resonate for you, we understand. If you no longer feel comfortable doing business with or recommending PAX Programs, we respect your choice in this matter.

Since its inception, PAX has pioneered content and contexts to facilitate understanding and partnership between men and women. When we began in 1991, many found the idea of "celebrating men" offensive, and the assertion that men and women are different a betrayal of feminist principles. We persisted. Then, as now, our intention was to offer a new point of view that gives access to freedom, self-expression, partnership, empowerment and contentment. If popularity were our concern, nothing of what PAX provides would be available.

As our graduates, customers and fans, we deeply appreciate the many times that you have stood in support of our efforts to take new ground. If this new endeavor for PAX brings our relationship to an end, we will continue to appreciate your past support and wish you all the best.

Respectfully,
Alison Armstrong, CEO
